New Discipleship small groups are starting in October. This is an opportunity to grow in faith and journey through life together
Seek out opportunities to join with others in fellowship activities such as PUFF trips or Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Opportunities are endless for serving our community. Whether it is every Thursday at the Hand-up Food Pantry or helping serve meals with Neighbors United or picking up trash in Turner Park.
Or perhaps there is a project that is near and dear to your heart…invite others to serve alongside you.
Become a part of our Prayer team – either by email or phone tree – and lift up others in prayer.
Consider becoming a Stephen Minister and a part of our Sunday morning prayer team.
I am looking forward to all this year holds as we Worship Together weekly; Grow Together in our faith journey; do Life Together in fellowship as a congregation; Serve Together in our church and in our community; and intentionally take time to Pray Together. I hope that you will seek out an opportunity this Fall to be Together with others.
We offer two classes for adults with The Present Word , led by Amy Rodie beginning at 9:oo am and an Adult Bible class led by Alan Reinarz beginning at 9:00 am.
9:00 am – 10:00 am The Present Word, led by Amy Rodie
You are invited to join an adult learning group that meets 9:00 – 10:00 Sunday mornings for a Bible-based study, facilitated by Amy Rodie. We use The Present Word materials (provided). All adults are welcome; this is a friendly group that likes to talk, and you are free to chime-in or not. Any level of familiarity with God’s Word is appropriate. Please come! We meet in the northeast east corner on the first floor of Millard Hall.
9:00 am – 10:00 am Scripture Reading Classes led by Alan Reinarz
The Scripture Reading group, facilitated by Alan Reinarz, meets in a first-floor classroom in Millard Hall. The usual practice is to read the Scripture passage(s) announced for that Sunday’s worship, in the larger context of the entire chapter, for example, and other related Scripture passages. Basic Bible study aids are consulted. Application of the passage(s) to contemporary life situations are discussed. Time is made to share and pray about personal concerns and blessings.
Discipleship Small Groups
Are you interested in developing a deeper relationship with Christ? Would you like to be a part of a discipleship small group? We are getting ready to launch new discipleship groups for the 2017-2018 school year and would love to have join us. An informational meeting will be held at the church on September 10th at 4:00pm. Please talk with Pastor Jenni or Pastor Jon if you are would like to attend.
Women’s Bible Study
Have you ever wished you knew the Bible better? Well, now is your chance to study the biblical story as a whole.
Seamless covers the people, places and promises of the Bible, tying them together into the greater story of Scripture. Together we will gain better understanding of the fundamental layout and meaning of God’s Word. Seamless helps replace insecurity that holds us back with clarity and helping us move forward with confidence in our understanding of Scripture.
Join us in Jenk’s lounge at 10am September 16 as we study God’s word together.
Midweek @ Midtown
Join us September 13 as Midweek @ Midtown kicks off! This was previously known as Wednesday Night Downtown. Dinner will be served from 5:45pm-6:15pm. After dinner, at 6:15, our children, youth and adult Bible programs begin.
A few changes to our Wednesday night line-up this year: Along with a name change – Midweek@Midtown – we are asking for reservations for dinner. If you are planning to join us please RSVP by signing up on the bulletin board on Sunday morning or calling the church office by Tuesday afternoon. This will help us to be better stewards of our resources as we prepare and serve meals.
4:30 Bible Study
Join us Wednesday afternoons in Jenk’s lounge for a 4 week Bible study on the story of Jonah.
From this story we learn not only about Jonah’s adventures and God’s ways but also about ourselves. We might even notice that Jonah acts a lot like we do sometimes. But—thank God!—that’s not the end of the story. . . .
6:15 Adult Bible Study
This October marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation. No biblical document made a greater contribution to the Reformation than the Apostle Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. Luther’s Commentary on Romans was the first exposition of Romans on the basis of four Reformation “solas” – Scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, and Christ alone. Join us for a look into the history that led up to Martin Luther’s nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg church as we consider Romans in light of its Reformation setting and its contemporary witness.. This class will meet Wednesdays @ 6:15 in Jenk’s lounge.
