DESCRIPTION:Beginning Sunday July 9 – August 20 we are offering a seven week study entitled “The God We Can Know.” \nWe will explore the “I Am” sayings of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. Seeking to find and form an answer to the most essential question in the Christian faith\, “Who do you say I am?” One by one\, Jesus’ statements grab our imagination\, reveal more about his identity and purpose\, and connect us to the God of Moses\, who spoke the first “I Am.” These significant yet ordinary images (bread\, light\, shepherd\, vine\, and more) give us insightful ways to experience Jesus and point us to a God who wants to be known. \nThe DVD portion of the lesson is filmed on location in the Holy Land\, allowing us to actually see the places where Jesus stood when he disclosed his true \nidentity\, and in what context he spoke each “I Am.”\nWeekly themes include: • Introduction to “I Am” – Knowing God • I Am the Bread of Life – Knowing God’s \nSatisfaction • I Am the Light of the World – Knowing God’s Guidance • I Am the Good Shepherd – Knowing God’s Care • I Am the True Vine – Knowing God’s Power • I Am the Way\, the Truth\, and the Life – Knowing God’s Way • I Am the Resurrection and the Life – Knowing God’s Possibilities \nJoin us for a light lunch\, a time of fellowship and great study. DESCRIPTION:The youth will be hosting two fundraisers in June to help offset the cost of their mission trip to Colorado.  The first date is Sunday\, June 11.  After worship service\, come on down to Knox Hall\, and have a delicious pancake lunch instead of going out for lunch.  This will help our youth\, and you can always get seconds! \n\n\n\nIn addition to the lunch\, we will have a giving board that will provide an additional opportunity for giving. The board will contain envelopes with numbers on them. For those that would like to give\, you would choose an envelope and put that amount in the envelope. For instance\, if someone were to choose an envelope with a “10” on it\, they would donate $10. The giving board will be part of the breakfast but following the breakfast it will be in Calvin Hall. It will be available for two weeks for those that would like to give. \nJoin the Youth on Sunday\, June 11.  See you then!

DESCRIPTION:Have YOU ever wondered what it was like to sit with Jesus at His Last Supper?  If you have\, you will have the opportunity to see a potrayal of the “Living Last Supper” at First Presbyterian Church at 6:30 pm.  With a combined church service with West Hills Church\, there will be members from both churches portraying the disciples and Jesus.  Jesus will tell his disciples that one of them will betray him and each “disciple” asks himself “Is it I?”  Communion will be offered to all those who believe in God.  Join us at First Presbyterian Church Thursday\, April 13 at 6:30pm for a very realistic portrayal of  “The Living Last Supper.”  You won’t regret it.

SUMMARY:Turner Park – Keep Omaha Beautiful | Adopt-A-Park Program
DESCRIPTION:First Presbyterian Church is proud to be involved with the Keep Omaha Beautiful Adopt-A-Park program. The church has adopted Turner Park\, our neighbor east of us at 3oth and Farnam Streets. Volunteers from the church will monthly work at the park to keep it sparkling clean.  We plan on meeting the second Sunday of the month.  During the warmer months we will clean before our worship service at 10:30.  In the colder\, wintry months\, we plan on cleaning\, if weather permits\, after worshp. If you are interested in participating in this activity\, contact the church at 402 345-5383 or email/call David at dbmcbb@gmail.com or 402 278-2214. SUMMARY:30 Hour Famine
DESCRIPTION:This mission is organized through World Vision.  This is a mission that the youth of First Presbyterian Church participate in every year.  This year the will fast for 30 hours in recognition of all the people of the world experiencing hunger!  We would like to encourage YOU to fast along with us this year starting at noon on Friday\, March 24th through 6:00 PM on Saturday\, March 25th.  The youth will only drink fluids. \nIn addition to a lock-in\, mission work\, and communion to break their fast\, the youth will also be collecting donations.  You can send any donations directly to the church office or contact a youth group member.  Please indicate “30 Hour Famine” on your donation.  All proceeds will go toward a worthy charity.  Thank you for your prayers and donations.

DESCRIPTION:CCGM\, a Mission committee at First Presbyterian Church\, is serving supper to the staff at Kellom Elementary School on March 9\,  during Parent-Teacher Conferences.  If you would like to help\, you could volunteer to help serve.  We will meet at church at 5:00 PM and will serve at the school from 5:30 PM until approsimately 7:30 PM.  We also need desserts for the meal.  If you are willing to make a simple dessert. you could leave it at the church.  If you are interested in volunteering\, contact the church at 402 345-5383  to speak to Kathy S.  This is a very meaningful mission project as the teachers\, who have back to back conferences during the conference time\, thoroughly enjoy being able to go into the teacher’s lounge and have a warm meal waiting for them.  Please help if you can.

DESCRIPTION:YOU are invited to attend First Presbyterian Church during the 2017 Lenten Season.  It will begin on Wednesday\, March 1 with Ash Wednesday.  A free-will offering meal will be served beginning at 5:45 pm until 6:25 pm.  Then at 6:30 pm our Ash Wednesday service will begin.  You may attend the meal or just come for the service. \nThis is a special service as we receive a cross of ashes on our foreheads from our pastors\, a brief message is given\, communion is served to all those who believe in God\, and then the cross is cleaned off by our pastors signifying the forgiveness of our sins through the dying and rising of Jesus from the dead. \nYou are encouraged to attend our services as they are family friendly\, and we offer many activities during this season or the next 40 days until Easter.  After Ash Wednesday\, a Lenten Service  at 6:30 pm will happen every Wednesday until Holy Week\, which is the week preceding Easter and the last week of Lent.  See you on Wednesdays!

DESCRIPTION:Since 1990 young people have been teaming up around the time of the Super Bowl game to collect dollars and food for local charities. On Sunday\, February 5th\, the FPC youth will be collecting donations in soup pots after worship and before the congregational meeting.
