DESCRIPTION:“The light shines in the darkness\, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” \n John 1:5  \nThe Christmas season can be difficult for those of us experiencing loneliness\, sadness and loss. We can feel singled out by the programmed happiness of “the most wonderful time of the year.” But we are not alone. As the hymn states\, the hopes and fears of all the years are met in him\,” Jesus\, Immanuel\, God with us. Many people experience at least some sadness and loss in this season.  \nWith this thought in mind we will be hosting our annual Blue Christmas Service on Saturday December 15\, at 11:30 a.m. This gathering will be an opportunity to be with others who struggle during the holidays and to support each other through time together in prayer\, worship and remembrance with a lunch served following the service.  \nIn order to be sure we have a place for everyone at the table a reservation is required. Breakfast is being catered by Table Grace Café\, which means it will be delicious!  \n9:15: Following breakfast there will be activities to help prepare our hearts and homes for the Advent season. The Adult Bible study class will also begin their Advent Study\, Because of Bethlehem\, over in Millard Hall.  \n10:30: Worship with Communion will begin at 10:30.  \n11:30: Following worship\, we will continue the celebration as we seek to serve our community with service projects for all ages and abilities.  \nNoon: Then\, join with the Deacons and others as we go out and spread the Holiday cheer and carol to some of our Homebound members and friends!  \n

DESCRIPTION:Friday\, September 7 is our annual OWL Walk at the Hitchcock Wetlands!  We will meet at 5.45 pm we wil meet at Sortino’s Pizza (78th and L) for food and fellowship.  (Everyone is responsible for their own food costs.) \nThen we leave in our cars for our guided walk at the Hitchcock Wetlands (103 Camp Gifford Road\, Bellevue\, across from Gifford Farm). Our walk is through the forest to look for and listen to owls.  The area is handicap accessible.  The cost is $9.50 for adults and $7.50 for children 2-17 years of age.  (There is no charge for members of Fontenelle Forest.)  Don’t forget to bring binoculars and a flashlight if you have them.  This activity will be fun for the whole family!  Please register and pay during coffee hour after worship.  If you have any further questions\, please contact Tom Helligso!
