SUMMARY:Owl Hike
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, September 8\, First Presbyterian Church will hold its second annual Owl Hike.  The evening starts at 5:45 PM at Sortino’s Pizza (78th  & L) for food and fellowship.  Everyone is responsible for paying their own food bill. Then we travel to the Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center.  The owl hike will be from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. \nAfter a brief presentation by the Fontenelle Forest guide at 7:30 pm\, we will begin our walk where the chances of finding and seeing owls in the woods are very good.   The trails are flat and handicapped accessible.  Please bring a flashlight.  Parking is available in the Gifford Farm Parking lot right across the road from the Wetlands Center.  The price for the guided hike is $9.50 for adults and $7.50 for children 2-17.  Members of Fontenelle Forest are free. \nBest directions to Hitchcock Learning Center are:  13th Street South to Bellevue Blvd: left on Bellevue Blvd about a mile to Camp Gifford Road. (You go past the main Fontenelle Forest Nature Center Building). Turn left on Gifford Road and follow all the way to Gifford Farm/Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center.  To join us\, please contact the church by September 7.

Seeking to find and form an answer to the most essential question in the Christian faith\, “Who do you say I am?” One by one\, Jesus’ statements grab our imagination\, reveal more about his identity and purpose\, and connect us to the God of Moses\, who spoke the first “I Am.” These significant yet ordinary images (bread\, light\, shepherd\, vine\, and more) give us insightful ways to experience Jesus and point us to a God who wants to be known. \nThe DVD portion of the lesson is filmed on location in the Holy Land\, allowing us to actually see the places where Jesus stood when he disclosed his true \nidentity\, and in what context he spoke each “I Am.”\nWeekly themes include: • Introduction to “I Am” – Knowing God • I Am the Bread of Life – Knowing God’s \nSatisfaction • I Am the Light of the World – Knowing God’s Guidance • I Am the Good Shepherd – Knowing God’s Care • I Am the True Vine – Knowing God’s Power • I Am the Way\, the Truth\, and the Life – Knowing God’s Way • I Am the Resurrection and the Life – Knowing God’s Possibilities \nJoin us for a light lunch\, a time of fellowship and great study.
