Call to Worship AJ Baratta
Leader: Our worship this morning is just one step in our journey;
People: following a path that leads us closer to God.
Leader: We use our time here to learn and share;
People: to prepare ourselves for the road which lies ahead.
Leader: We are all travelers, seeking to help and be helped on the road God
created for us. Each day is an adventure.
ALL: Let us worship God!
*Hymn “Mighty to Save”
*Prayer of Confession (Unison)
Dear Lord, we are told that all things happen according to Your plan, but we are often angry and discouraged when our schedules are upset. We want to help those lost along the way, but we don’t fully open our eyes to them. We take the easy route, convinced that we are following Your will, while overlooking the benefit of the occasional bump in the road, or overgrown trail along the way. Help us to see past what we have decided is the finish line: the goal or the winner’s circle; to the people and treasures stumbled across on the unexplored or unexpected detour.…(Silent time of prayer)
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: God leads us to people who need our love and mercy, and in return we are
blessed by the Lord’s forgiveness and compassion.
ALL: Thanks be to God!
*The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
WE HEAR GOD’S WORD

Acts 16:9-15 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
9 During the night Paul had a vision: there stood a man of Macedonia pleading with him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 When he had seen the vision, we immediately tried to cross over to Macedonia, being convinced that God had called us to proclaim the good news to them.
The Conversion of Lydia
11 We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. 13 On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. 14 A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15 When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.” And she prevailed upon us.

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer (Unison)
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
