Greet your neighbor with Christian love and let them know that you’re glad to see them!)

*Hymn                                                       “Glory”                                                    M Maher

*Call to Worship

Leader:     We gather in search of joyful news;

People:    and respond with joyful praise!

Leader:     We seek the Christ Child, to be born in a manger;

People:    and He seeks us, to live in our hearts!

Leader:     As Christmas approaches, we wait for the promised Savior; we prepare

our hearts for the joy He provides; and we search for the light that leads

the way.

ALL:        Let us worship and praise God!

Lighting of the Advent Candle

He came down that we may have joy; he came down that we may have

                        joy; he came down that we may have joy; hallelujah forevermore.

*Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Dear Lord, we hang Christmas lights on our Christmas trees and our homes, but often forget to illuminate You.  We shop for and wrap presents, even though we know You are the true gift of the season.  We sing of being merry and jolly, but You alone bring us true joy.  Help us to be beacons of Your light.  Encourage us to open our hearts to Your presence.  Help us to remember that happiness comes and goes, but the joy You give is eternal…(Silent time of prayer)

*Assurance of Pardon

Leader:     Upon His birth, many people sought Jesus; Jesus now seeks us.  He gives

us gifts.  He wraps us in love and forgiveness so that we may shine brightly

to lead others to Him.

      ALL:          Thanks be to God!

* The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

       Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come,

       power and the glory, forever. Amen.
