*The Greeting and Welcoming of One Another

(There are no strangers in God’s House, just friends we have not yet met.

Greet your neighbor in Christian love and let them know that you’re glad to see them!)

*Hymn                              “All Creatures of Our God and King”                                              J Allen

*Call to Worship (Responsive)                                                                                     AJ Baratta

Leader:            We gather this morning as people often confused,

People:           we are trying to figure out where we fit.

Leader:            We want to identify with others,

People:           yet want to remain steadfast in our faith.

Leader:            God provides us with a blueprint that, when followed, guides us to be who we long to be:  children of God.

All:                  Let us worship God!

*Hymn                                    “Blessed Be Your Name”                                              M Redman

*Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Dear Lord, the right way is not always the most popular way, making life a hard journey at times.  We want to fit in, yet You call on us to stand out.  We often wonder if our actions and our words clearly communicate who we are.  Help us to always use You as our Guide.  Lead us on the path to righteousness, even if it seems we are traveling alone.  Give us the confidence to boldly proclaim our connection to You.  Shine Your light on us as we reflect Your love onto others, so that even those who do not know You can see You in us…(Silent time of prayer)

*Assurance of Pardon

Leader:            We strive to be like those we love and admire, emulating their ways.  Jesus  expects compassion and mercy from us, because He heaps His love and forgiveness on us.

All:                  Thanks be to God!

* The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

1 John 2:29–3:3                                   Pew Bible pg. 990

Children of God
29 If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who does right has been born of him. 3 1 See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. 3 And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

*Hymn #525                            “Let Us Break Bread Together”

*The Apostles’ Creed and Pastoral Prayer

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen

The Prayer of Thanksgiving (Unison)

Eternal God, thank you for coming to us in Jesus Christ. Renew in us faith and hope that we may welcome Christ to rule our thoughts and claim our love, as Lord of lords and King of kings through Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
