*The Greeting and Welcoming of One Another

(There are no strangers in God’s House, just friends we have not yet met.

Greet your neighbor in Christian love and let them know that you’re glad to see them!)

*Hymn                                               “Oh My Soul”                                                  Hall & Herms

*Call to Worship (Responsive)                                                                                     AJ Baratta

Leader:            We gather today to seek a greater love;

People:           for the Lord and for each other.

Leader:            We come to be face to face with fellow believers;

People:           so that we may go out shoulder to shoulder, sharing Christ’s love.

Leader:            God created us to work for others, to praise the Lord and to be witnesses of

His works; but we were made for more.  We were made to love.

All:                  Let us worship God!

*Hymn                                   “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)”                                       Hillsong

*Prayer of Confession (Unison)

Dear Lord, we are always looking for shortcuts in our daily lives:  quicker driving routes; faster fast food; Instagram and text messaging, but we fail to see the direct way to You.  We take pride in following the commandments You set forth, one at a time, but fail to see the common theme behind them:  Love.  We should love You above all others, and love others as we love ourselves.  Just as we expect Your love to be unconditional, we should love others under all conditions. In the same way Your love guides us to a better life, that love, needs to draw people to discover why life with You is better.  Help us as we see Your commandments as love in action:  to love You and  to love others…(Silent time of prayer)

*Assurance of Pardon

Leader:            Jesus loves us so much that He walked to His death via a path paved with

love.  He continues to love us, through His mercy and forgiveness.

All:                  Thanks be to God!

* The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

Message            “Made for More:  Love”                 Dr. Jennifer Blake

Romans 13:8-12                                         Pew Bible pg.923

Love for One Another
8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet”; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law.

An Urgent Appeal
11 Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers; 12 the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light;

WE SEAL AND RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD

*Hymn #703                                                                                  “Thy Boundless Love to Me”

*The Apostles’ Creed

            I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

            And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

            I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen

The Prayer of Thanksgiving (Unison)

       Eternal God, thank you for coming to us in Jesus Christ. Renew in us faith and hope that we may welcome Christ to rule our thoughts and claim our love, as Lord of lords and King of kings through Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
