Call to Worship
Leader: As we gather this morning, we temporarily leave behind the outside world;
People: we stop, we rest, we sit at the Lord’s feet.
Leader: We are drawn to worship, to hear the Word;
People: we block out distractions, we absorb peace, we stand in His
presence.
Leader: God commanded us to keep the Sabbath holy; to spend time with other
believers; to find a better way to be surrounded by the Lord.
ALL: Let us worship God!
*Hymn “Lord, You Have My Heart”
*Prayer of Confession (Unison)
Dear Lord, we fill our lives with jobs, chores and fun; leaving little time for You. We work hard, play hard and find ourselves too tired to spend time in prayer or in church. We uncover hours to binge watch the latest television shows and find activities to post on social media, but can’t come up with an hour to worship or study Your Word. Help us to find a better way: to live, to play, to serve. Help us to treasure the time spent at Your feet and to search our day for opportunities to be close to You and further from the world.…(Silent time of prayer)
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: God’s glory surrounds us whether we labor or rest. It gives us hope and promises us mercy, grace and forgiveness!
ALL: Thanks be to God!
*The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Luke 10:38-42 Pew Bible pg.845
Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
38 Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. 40 But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; 42 there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”;
