Call to Worship AJ Baratta
Leader: We gather today as people who are searching for Jesus;
People: we need reminders of His presence.
Leader: We come together as a church and read His Word;
People: in an attempt to find Him in our hearts.
Leader: Jesus is no longer in the manger, He is all around us. God places
Him in the world so that He will never be missing from our hearts.
ALL: Let us worship God!
*Hymn “My Light House”
*Prayer of Confession (Unison)
Dear Lord, we spend the Christmas season praising the Christ Child, but are disappointed when we seek You in swaddling clothes and You are not there. We read and memorize Scripture to put on a public display, but lose sight of You in the crowd. We look to the cross for answers only to find it empty. Help us to not limit Your presence in our lives. Teach us that in order to find You in the Bible, we must live the Word; in order to find You in our heart, we must be obedient. Remind us that You are not missing, rather Your love for us took a journey from birth in a stable to life in the world; and from death on a cross to eternity in Heaven…(Silent time of prayer)
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: When we truly find Jesus, we find true love, true forgiveness, and true mercy.
ALL: Thanks be to God!
*The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Message “Missing Jesus” Dr. Jonathan Sloan
John 5:39-44 Pew Bible pg. 867
39 “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf. 40 Yet you refuse to come to me to have life. 41 I do not accept glory from human beings. 42 But I know that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?
