Thinking a Mile Ahead

Dr. Bill Osick tells a story about how finding a safe way while navigating life takes foresight, and how ta satisfied life depends on walking with Jesus who is the Light, the Path, and the Destination. Inspired by Proverbs 30:18-19

*The Greeting and Welcoming of One Another

(There are no strangers in God’s House, just friends we have not yet met.

Greet your neighbor with Christian love and let them know that you’re glad to see them!)

*Praise Hymn                                      “Faithful”                                                       C Tomlin

*Call to Worship

Leader:     We gather this morning as different, separate people;

People:    we come together in the glory of the Lord!

Leader:     We are drawn by different desires, different needs;

People:    but come to praise the same God.

Leader:     The world is full of mysteries, whether in nature or in humanity.

Today, may we be more concerned with how to follow God, instead of why.

ALL:    Let us worship God!

*Hymn                                               “God is Able”                                                   Hillsong

*Prayer of Confession (Unison)                                                                             AJ Baratta

Dear Lord,  You created many things that continue to amaze us.  We are in awe of Your wonders in nature, yet continually question Your part in our lives, so we blindly venture out on our own.  We see Your grand design all around us, yet take credit for all things good while blaming You for the bad.  You and Your ways astound us, yet we continue to question Your authority, so we turn from You and rely on others to guide us.  Help us to believe in Your power, to bow to Your greatness and to hold fast to Your love.…(Silent time of prayer)

*Assurance of Pardon

Leader:    Jesus keeps watch over us, is with us always, and is always in control, even

when life seems uncontrollable.  He loves so deeply that He astounds us

with His forgiveness and mercy.

ALL:          Thanks be to God!

* The Gloria Patri – Hymn Tune, 581

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen.

Message               “Thinking a Mile Ahead”              Dr. Bill Osick

Proverbs 30:18-19

18 Three things are too wonderful for me;
    four I do not understand:
19 the way of an eagle in the sky,
    the way of a snake on a rock,
the way of a ship on the high seas,
    and the way of a man with a girl.

*Hymn                                                                                   “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer (Unison)

       Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come,

       thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily

       bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not

       into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the

       power and the glory, forever. Amen.
